Uplift Education is the largest free public charter school network in North Texas, serving over 23,000 students in pre-k through 12th grade across 20 campuses. The network is a non-profit organization dedicated to providing a high-quality, international education through the International Baccalaureate framework.

Teaching approach

The mission of Uplift Education is to create and sustain public schools of excellence that empower students to reach their highest potential in college and the global marketplace. The network aims to inspire a life-long love of learning, achievement, and service, fostering an environment where students are encouraged to think critically, solve problems creatively, and develop a global mindset.

Programmes

Uplift Education utilizes the International Baccalaureate (IB) curriculum across all grade levels. The Primary Years Programme (PYP) for grades K-5 focuses on interdisciplinary themes like "Sharing the Planet" and "How the World Works," covering language, math, science, social studies, arts, and physical education. The Middle Years Programme (MYP) for grades 6-10 bridges foundational learning with high school requirements, adding subjects like design and language acquisition. The Diploma Programme (DP) for grades 11-12 offers college-level coursework, including the DP Core (Theory of Knowledge, Extended Essay, and Creativity, Activity, Service), preparing students for higher education and career success. The network also provides a "Road to College & Career" program that includes career exposure, college field trips, and alumni support.

Outcomes

Since its first graduating class in 2002, 100% of Uplift graduates have been accepted to college, with an 85% matriculation rate. The network reports that 75% of its students are first-generation college attendees. Students earning an IB Diploma benefit from guaranteed college credit at Texas public universities and higher college graduation rates compared to non-IB peers.
