Admissions
Walford accepts applications from birth, with a preferred submission time of 26 months before the intended commencement date. Main intake points are Reception, Year 5, Year 7, Year 9 (boarding), and Year 10, though mid-year entry is possible if vacancies exist. The process includes an online application, a student interview with the relevant Head of School, and an orientation program for incoming students. Priority for Reception is given to girls transitioning from the school's Early Learning Centre.
Calendar
The school operates on a four-term academic year. Terms typically run from late January to early April, late April to late June, mid-July to late September, and mid-October to early December. Boarding exeats are scheduled throughout each term, and the school observes standard Australian public holidays.
Facilities
About the campus
The school operates two campuses in Hyde Park and additional sporting facilities, including the Parks Playing Field and Pavilion and a rowing boatshed at West Lakes. Campus facilities include an Early Learning Centre, Junior and Senior Libraries, a STEAM Makerspace, a Design Technology Centre, a Science Centre, a swimming pool, a Sports Centre with indoor courts and a dance studio, the Helen Reid Hall auditorium, St Elizabeth Chapel, and a 70-bed Boarding House. The Fig Tree Café provides nutritionally balanced meals for students.
Co-curriculars
Students participate in a wide range of activities including music (orchestra, choir, bands), debating, and various sports. The school offers a Leadership Academy for Year 7 students, which includes the Compass Award, and provides opportunities for service learning, student committees, and peer mentoring. Joining Walford in 2023 as the School’s ninth principal, Deborah brings more than 25 years of experience teaching and leading in outstanding schools in Australia and England. She holds a doctorate in effective school change (PhD) and is a graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors. Her research, writing, and leadership have been consistently recognised through awards, including being named on The Educator Australia’s ‘Most Influential Educator’ list.

Alice is a dedicated and experienced senior leader, and a passionate teacher of Economics and Legal Studies. She joined Walford in 2011 after a decade as a chartered accountant at PricewaterhouseCoopers. She has previously held the roles of Head of Middle School, Acting Head of Senior School and Head of Gordon House.

Prior to her time at Walford, Kerri held the positions of Instructional Coach and Head of English at Woodcroft College, and led the English departments of two schools in England.

In her previous role as the Director of Communications and Marketing at Wilderness School, April was a member of the school’s executive and led the Marketing, Advancement and Admissions Departments.
